Plant Positive: Changing the subject, are we? Like him, you can't defend his arguments, can you? Are you basing this on the online anecdotes of fat people or serious research? What's the evidence of a reversal of heart disease?

humanyoda: His diet and similar ones seem to allow people to relatively quickly reverse diabetes, heart diseases, etc. This tells me these diets aren't far from being the optimal direction.

Plant Positive: I hadn't seen that, so thanks. If you weren't so blinkered you'd see he's unable to respond. I exposed enormous confounders to his argument. WHY do these people have low cholesterol. Are they vegans? Or are they sick? He admits as much. Infections and parasites. Not a plant-based diet. And you can't see it, apparently. "If people are healthy," he says. Based on what? These confounded arguments? You can call me a confusionist but you seem pathetic when you do. You are clueless.

humanyoda: There was a discussion at the PHD blog about arguments you presented here. See perfecthealthdiet . com/2011/06/blood-lipids-and-infectious-disease-part-i/comment-page-1/#comment-132739 I've watched your critique of Dr. Ravnskov's work too, and overall, it seems to me that it is you who is the confusionist.

Peter Eaves: I actually have their book and it is completely and utter rubbish. I looked up a quite a few of the references they give to provide evidence for their claims and one of them was completely false. They claim something along the lines of Arnold Schwarzenegger recommending a very high fat diet (about 50% or so) but when I looked up the reference it didn't say anything of the sort. He has an absolute obsession with the macronutrient ratios of milk and how we should use these to model our diets on.

Peter Eaves: I went on their Facebook page and virtually all the comments are basically about how the government is supposedly trying to kill us by promoting low fat diets and promoting grain consumption. They have been completely and utterly brainwashed by the WAPF. It's quite sad because most of their followers are ignorant parents who just want to follow a healthy diet for their kids and themselves.

FlexitarianStrong: I'm starting to notice a trend among the cholesterol confusionists ('paleos and 'carbers') by using a scientific study to 'prove' their ridiculous ideas, when even a cursory review of the research they are suggesting has a completely different goal and or focus. Not to mention using studies on the sick, or those recovering from CVD, or other disease; Not exactly giving them a solid control.

JustAnotherVegan: Jaminet just called Julia Child "a Paleo guru" because of her use of butter. What the bull fucking hell is wrong with these people? Do they think butter existed in the Paleolithic? And don't give me any nonsense about "oh, they ate animal fat which is equivalent" because we all know it doesn't work that way. You might as well say HFCS is Paleo because they ate honey "which is equivalent." Apologies for the profanity. These people just really grind my gears. Julia Child used grains and beans too.
